FK Mladá Boleslav’s Radek Sírl revealed his decision to leave Zenit St. Petersburg: RPL

Former Zenit St. Petersburg stopper, Radek Sírl explained his decision to leave Petrovsky to join Czech Republic side, FK Mladá Boleslav in the Gambrinus Liga.

Radek Sírl admitted that it was a tough decision to leave the Russian club but insisted that the opportunity for a first team football lured him away from the Russian Premier League. The left back highlighted that the head coach,
Luciano Spalletti forced his decision after being told he is not valued at the club anymore.

The experienced left back highlighted that Spalletti told him that things will become more difficult for him next season. Sírl explained that he completely respect the former AS Roma manager decision which ultimately resulted in
termination of his contract at the Russian club.

“Everything was very civilized. I signed the papers immediately and became a free agent and the leaders thanked me for the services.” Sírl was quotes as saying.

The 30 year old revealed that the recurrence of injuries forced him to make a move away from Russian Championship. The defender underwent a surgery on his knee after sustaining a knock during the preseason tour to Dubai last season.
The left back bemoaned the lack of action and said:

“It happened at the first pre-season gathering in Dubai. We just started working with Spalletti but I had to go to the hospital immediately after pain in my knee.” The former AFK Sokol-Semice concluded.

The Czech national highlighted that he made his decision to play in the Gambrinus Liga because the Czech league is less competitive as compared to the Russian league.

The former Sparta Prague stopper admitted that he failed to impress the head coach and the fans by putting up some laggard performances recently.

Sírl revealed that CSKA Moscow, Rubin Kazan, Spartak Moscow and Zenit are the most successful clubs since the inception of RPL.

Radek Sírl served the Russian club for seven years and claimed the RPL, Russian Premier League Cup, Russian Cup, Russian Super Cup, UEFA Cup and UEFA Super Cup during his tenure at the club.

The left back thanked the fans for their moral support during his career in Russia and admitted that he has taken a lot of sweet memories to Czech Republic.
