The HSBC Women’s Champions to break all the existing record crowds (fixed headline)

The fourth edition of the HSBC Women’s Champions will take place at the Tanah Merah Golf and Country Club in Singapore this weekend. With the Taiwanese World Number Yani Tseng taking the field with other leading names in LPGA, this event is expected to attract
record crowds. The Four day event this year arrives with an even greater purse of US $1.4 million.

Along with Tseng, the American players Paula Creamer and Michelle Wie will also take part in HSBC Women’s Champions. Creamer and Wie dazzled the media as they dressed up in Japanese and Korean attires to promote the global ties that the LPGA is now making.
Creamer was assisted by the HSBC Women’s Champion’s defending champion, the Japanese Ai Miyazato in wearing a Kimono which is Japanese attire. Wie was helped by the 2009 champion, Shin, in dressing up in a Korean Hanbok.

“I’ve only worn the hanbok a couple of times in my life, but it is still a huge part of my family heritage. One of the LPGA’s strengths is how international it is, but we all look the same once we’ve got our golf gear on. I hope this will help people
realise how different and rich our backgrounds are and I hope it encourages people to be more interested in our cultural backgrounds,” said Michelle.

But still, not matter what Wie and Creamer wear, Yani is the major reason for the ‘record crowds’ this year. The 22 year old player won four of the tournaments she played in 2011. Including a small professional
event in Taiwan, Tseng won the Australian Open, the Australian Ladies Masters and just recently the season-opening LPGA Thailand. The player couldn’t believe it as she posted a 6-under par 66 in the final round to win in Thailand as well.

Along with replacing Shin as the world number one player, Tseng has become the first female golfer to take four championships on four different continents. The event will feature all the 2010 major champions and all of last year’s LPGA Tournament winners.

With so much competition in one field, it is no wonder that the HSBC will be a record-breaking event.
