Update “Jonjo Shelvey’s season ends with a serious injury”

Former Charlton Athletic and Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has suffered a setback after realizing that he has suffered a serious knee tendon injury and he won’t be able to take the field for at least 3 months.

Shelvey has emerged as a rising star for the kops and has been in the regular plans of the new manager Kenny Dalgilish since he took over from the Roy Hodgson.

Jonjo signed for the club in April 2010 but he was not considered a premier league product by Hodgson. As the kops were going on a decline, Liverpool officials decided to sack Fulham’s former boss and bring in King Kenny to revive the reds season.

The English youngster seemed to be disappointed upon hearing his injury problem as he was gradually fitting in the kops clothes alongside the likes of the club’s captain Steven Gerrard, the shining Portuguese midfielder Raul Meireles.

At first, it seemed a minor scare and the youngster opted out of the England U-19 match against Germany on Tuesday, the 8 of February 2010. The following day it was revealed that the injury is a scary one and the midfielder has to remain out of action for
about 3 months.

When Kenny came to know about this injury, He seemed to be disappointed and said that Shelvey has been an emerging star and he wanted to play him more and more towards the end of this season to give him more confidence in order to prepare him for the upcoming
season. But it’s been really disappointing to see the youngster in this state when he was enjoying a good decent run at the club and beginning to jell in with the fellow players.

The young spirited midfielder started his career by going through the youth system of the big clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal. He also played as a West Ham’s youth player before he made his way to Charlton Athletic.

Shelvey’s career at Charlton was a very encouraging one and he started achieving new heights as the time passed by.

He could only manage 2 appearances for the club in his first season but was able to gain his manager’s confidence that helped him in making 20 appearances in the following season, scoring 4 goals in all competitions. The Englishman, took further strides
and made 27 appearances that saw him scoring a further 4 goals. Overall, at Charlton, Jonjo scored 8 goals in a total of 49 appearances before he was recruited by the English premier league club, Liverpool.

His enormous talent and competitive play in the midfield promises to take him to the next level and he could also become a big money boy if he continues to polish his abilities and shine further once he returns from an unfortunate injury.
