Jamie Carragher out for up to three months

Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher says that he could  be out of action for up to three months after he dislocated his shoulder in the 2-1 English Premier League loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday 28 November.

The former England international sustained the injury in his 450th appearance in the EPL at White Hart Lane and, while it was initially believed that he would be on the sidelines for around a month, the latest prognosis suggests that he will be out of action
at least twice as long.

The 32-year-old told his club’s official website: “It’ll probably be late February or early March when I look to come back. The average is about 12 weeks. I’d like to come back before that but I’ve got to make sure it’s right. It’s difficult for me when
I’m injured. It hasn’t happened very often, and I’m very lucky with that I suppose, but maybe it’s caught up with me a little bit now.”

Despite his injury, Carragher has opted to look on the positive side, claiming that when he comes back, he will be fully fit at a time of the season when opposing teams’ players will be starting to become lethargic.

He added: “I’ve been here before with a broken leg which put me out this length of time. It’s not easy but you’ve got to get on with it, and it makes you more determined to get back. I’m sure towards the end of the season when people are maybe feeling a
little bit tired I’ll be raring to go.”

Carragher’s injury could hardly have come at a more difficult time for Roy Hodgson’s side as they are also without influential midfielder Steven Gerrard for up to four more weeks following the club captain’s hamstring injury in England’s 2-1 friendly defeat
to France on Wednesday 17 November.
