Johan Cruyff, Davids, Steven ten Have, Romer and Marjan Olfers asked to step down – Eredivisie news

Reports from Amsterdam Arena confirm that Ajax Amsterdam members council has asked Johan Cruyff, Edgar Davids, Steven ten Have, Paul Romer and Marjan Olfers to step down from their position in the supervisory board.

In the wake of a four-hour meeting on Monday, the Amsterdammers members council has decided to ask five board of members to submit their resignation in a week.

The club’s governing body had called a meeting to discuss all the ongoing disputes between Cruyff and the other four members. After talking serious consideration about all the activities, they have decided that none of the five members have a future at the
Amsterdam giants.

Rob Been Jr., members council chairman, clearly revealed in a press conference that the majority of the club members expressed disappointment and had no other option but to ask them to step down from their respective positions.

“The majority of the members council has expressed its disappointment with the methods used by the supervisory board. We have therefore asked them to step down from their positions”, he said while talking to the media.

Been Jr. Then went on to reveal that the club members have asked all the members to never return to Amsterdam Arena in a similar position.

“We expect a response to our request on Tuesday. Additionally, we ask the commissioners to never return to Ajax in a similar position. This also goes for Johan Cruyff”, he added.

Reports indicate that if any of the members of the supervisory board refuse to step down, the future of those will then be discussed in the next scheduled meeting of the shareholders on December 12.

Cruyff was appointed earlier this year as the member of Ajax board of directors. The 64-year-old installed Wim Jonk and Dennis Bergkamp to help nurture the youngsters at the Amsterdammers renowned youth academy, Jong Ajax.

Although Bergkamp and Jonk are not involved in any of these incidents, it is feared that the two could join hands with the legendary footballer and leave their posts, too.

However, the departure of Cruyff, Davids and the rest of the three seem unavoidable, as 73 percent of the shares are in the hands of the club members.
