Real Salt Lake beat Los Angeles Galaxy 4-1 at Rio Tinto

The Real Salt Lake has convincingly beaten their Western Conference rivals, the Los Angeles Galaxy, in the Major League Soccer 2011encounter on Saturday night, at the Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah. The Argentinean playmaker Javier Morales struck twice,
alongside Andy Williams and Paulo Araujo to give the soccer club a demolishing win.

Juan Pablo Angel, with a late strike was able to get some respite for the Galaxies. David Beckham, who was captaining the Galaxy side in the absence of Landon Donovan, could not deliver to the disappointment of the Galaxy fans.

The Real Salt Lake continued their winning streak of 36 games at home after their opening match at Rio Tinto, a couple of years ago.

The Galaxy carnage began very early in the game when Williams scored a goal in the second minute. The Real Salt Lake offence was all over the Galaxy defence, not allowing them to settle down in the game.

The Jamaican midfielder netted one in the far post on a pass from Paulo, which was intended for Fabian Espindola. Moments later, Beckham was into the RSL half with a free-kick, but the Salt Lake goal-keeper Nick Rimando was on to the ball in a flash, to
avoid any damage on the rebound.

The RSL lead was doubled in the 10th minute, when Paulo managed to earn a penalty kick. Paulo was about to take a shot when Saunders came in rushing and disrupted him. The referee spotted the play and awarded RSL with a penalty kick. Midfielder
Morales took the penalty shot and scored to give the Real Salt Lake a 2-0 lead.

Four minutes before the close of the first half, RSL defender Chris Wingert produced a superb pass for Morales, who scored and ended the first passage for the RSL with a healthy three goal lead.

The Galaxy defence line got scattered after the first half, and the pressure reflected on the side when a defensive error was committed in the 68th minute. A poor clearance from the Galaxy defender enabled Espindola to make a good ball for Paulo,
who was there to redirect it into the goal post.

The only considerable effort from the Galaxy offense line came in the 80th minute, when Pablo scored his opening MLS goal for the Galaxy. The win puts the Real Salt Lake on the top spot in the group table.
