Chris Gayle and Dirk Nannes animated for Zimbabwe defy – Cricket News Update

The West Indian explosive left-handed batsman Chris Gayle and the Australian left-arm fast bowler Dirk Nannes anticipates a volatile notion on Zimbabwe’s domestic T20 competition, Stanbic Bank 20 series, which gets underway on Friday.

In the competition 16 foreign players including Gayle are participating in the 10-day event and the West Indian batsman anticipates his only manifestation in Zimbabwe is one memorable.

“It’s my first time in this tournament, so as a player I want to make an impact,” Gayle said in Harare. “I’ve done well around the world and I want to give the spectators something to cheer about.”

Dirk Nannes, the left-arm fast bowler from Australia is the second foreign player, who is acquiring attention in Zimbabwe and will play for Mountaineers. Nannes earned the name of T20 wanderer and is participating in the Zimbabwe domestic
T20 event for the first time.

“I am coming here with an open mind because I have never been here before,” he said.

Gayle is second Caribbean cricketer who has made a deal with Southern Rocks after the all times great left-handed West Indian batsman Brian Lara, who represented the Northern Rocks last year. Lara’s appearance was of great value but he could not perform
during the event as he could only manage to score 99 runs in three games.

Gayle’s reputation as a hard-hitting batsman was endorsed by his brilliant performance during the last Indian Premier League (IPL) version during which he scored 608 runs in 12 games.

He smashed two blistering hundreds and three half-centuries during the event. He elucidated that his astounding form is because of the fundamental rules of cricket that he applied scrupulously.

“I’ve stuck to what I’ve done before other tournaments but I need to get more time in the nets,” he said. “Tomorrow [Thursday] will be crucial for me to get some time in the middle.”

Similarly, the left-arm fast bowler Nannes has also participated in different T20 tournaments, such as IPL, Australia’s Big Bash and England’s Friends Life T20 and said that each latest event unleash doors of new experiences and challenges. He added that
to adjust in the new team environment is a big challenge.

He said that obviously in Zimbabwe there is no player who has already played against him, therefore he does not know their batting style and to bowl a batsman whom he does not know, is really a big challenge.
