Scott Styris to enjoy his retirement with family

The right-arm Kiwi all-rounder Scott Bernard Styris, who has announced his retirement from the International cricket, has said that he wanted to spend his time with his family. The 35-year old player had already signed off from
the Test cricket in 2008 but he now he has called his retirement from all-format of game.

The player also told that he would continue his game at domestic levels, in Northern Districts and in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Styris in the IPL was a part of Chennai Super Kings team.

 The player made his place in the national team in 1999. The player, who is going to be 36 years-old next month made his One-Day-International debut against India at Rajkot in 1999. He has played 188 ODIs scoring 4483 runs including
highest score of 141 setting his average at 32.48. He has scored 4 great hundreds and 28 half-centuries in this format of game.

Styris has also proved his mettles in the bowling side. He has taken 137 wickets setting his best figures at 6 wickets in consideration of 25 runs. Styris has managed his average at 35.32 as he has taken 4 wickets haul 4 times
and 5 wickets haul one time in his ODI career.

While talking to media, the player told that he has enjoyed a lot cricket in his career as it was a great honour for him.

“It has been an honour and a pleasure to play for New Zealand alongside so many quality players over the years and to have been a part of many key moments during that time.“

Styris also added that now he wanted to enjoy the time with his family.

“Not being on the international circuit means more time at home and I’m really looking forward to spending more time with my family,” all-rounder added.

The player told that he was the all-rounder and has performed in both departments if it was batting or bowling.

“The reason I was an allrounder was because I loved being involved in the game. If you miss with the bat you get an opportunity to make up for that with the ball,” Styris told.

Styris made his Test debut against West Indies at George’s in 2002. In his debut Test, Styris scored a great hundred scoring 107 runs from 178 balls in the first innings and then 69 runs not out in the 2nd innings to
draw the match against Caribbean.

He has played 29 Test matches scoring 1586 runs including highest score 170 setting his average at 36.04. He has scored 5 hundreds and 6 half-centuries.

The player in the bowling side has taken 20 wickets including his bowling figures at 3 wickets by giving 28 runs setting his average at 50.75 in this format of game.

Styris made his Twenty20 debut against Australia at Auckland in 2005. He has played 31 T20 international matches scoring 578 runs including highest score of 66 runs setting his average at 21.40. In this shorter form of game, he
has scored just one fifty.

In the bowling side he has taken 18 wickets setting his best bowling figures at 3 wickets by giving just 5 runs setting his average at 19.38.

Styris is at number 6 in the highest scoring batsmen from New Zealand. The player had really performed well for his country
