Serie A giants Juventus star Amauri too costly for Olympique de Marseille – Ligue 1 News

Serie A giants Juventus striker Amauri might prove too expensive for the Ligue 1 giants Olympique de Marseille.

Despite being interested, Didier Deschamps, coach of Olympique de Marseille might have to think again about the acquisition of La Vecchia Signora’s striker Amauri.

Former Monaco coach Didier Deschamps has been on the lookout for a top class striker since last season. He eyed Brazilian Luis Fabiano and Italian Alberto Gilardino, but was unsuccessful in acquiring their services. Currently suffering from lack of funds
the ambitious French tactician is chasing Juventus star Amauri.    

The 31-year-old Italian international did well to redeem himself after scoring seven goals in 11 games during his loan move to Parma. At Juventus, the Brazil-born Italian international never really impressed.

Amauri has been linked with many European clubs including Serie A sides Parma and Genoa and now Marseille.

The twenty-seven times Champions of Italy have exempted the South American born from their training for the 2011/2012 campaign, clearly suggesting the possible departure of the want-away Amauri. But
La Vecchia Signora will not be willing to let the former Palermo striker go cheaply.        

The Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello sport has confirmed that the Turin club would be looking for 8 million Euros for the Brazilian born Italian national.

Les Phoceens will have to keep their economic situation in mind before coming to a decision. The Carapicuiba-born striker will be a free agent next year. If 8 million Euros seems way over the line for Marseille, they will also have to consider the additional
sum of 3.8 million per year income required for the player.  

The excessive amount might have cooled of the other Italian clubs’ pursuit. Though Olympique de Marseille will continue their pursuit of the ‘Oriundi,” remains to be seen whether Deschamps will be able to find a suitable striker partner for Lisandro Lopez
before the end of the transfer window or not.

The 42-year-old Didier Deschamps is keen in recruiting heavy reinforcements for his offensive line, but it seems the management can’t afford to have such a highly paid player on their payroll, with their objective to lower costs intact. The French tactician
is desperate in strengthening the offensive line and might push the management in the acquisition.

An experienced player like Amauri is worth investing as it would provide depth in the squad. With the support of Lucho Gonzalez and the Ayew brothers, the Italian international may revive the 2010 glory for Marseille in the upcoming 2011/2012 Championelle.
