Abdul Razzaq may miss Bangladesh tour – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s allrounder Abdul Razzaq may miss the upcoming tour of Bangladesh due to seriousness of his shoulder injury he carried during the third One-Day international against Sri Lanka in Dubai on November 18.
“Considering his injury, the doctor has adviced him 10 days’ rest. He will be departing for Lahore on Wednesday where he will undergo further treatment,” Naushad Ali told in his earlier statement.
Razzaq missed the last two-matches of the five-match ODI series, which Pakistan clinched 4-1 against Sri Lanka. He is also ruled out of the only Twenty20 between two teams, scheduled to be played on Friday. However, selectors have
not announced any replacement for Razzaq so far.
“I don’t know about his availability for the Bangladesh series but we aren’t calling up any replacement while we are here,” Naushad said ahead of fourth ODI.
Razzaq has been off the scene, since Pakistan’s exit in the semi-final stage of International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup 2011, where he gave a unanimous bowling and batting performance. After the mega event’s conclusion, Pakistan
has played against West Indies, Ireland and Zimbabwe, but the veteran was recalled in the national squad for the ongoing series against Sri Lanka.
The 31-year-old has not given any considerable bowling and batting performance in the ongoing series. Bowling in first three ODIs, he claimed two wickets at an average of 30.50, whereas batting in two innings, he scored just 17
runs.
Other than Razzaq, Pakistan will also be missing the young pacer Junaid Khan for the tour of Bangladesh, after he sustained a serious abdominal injury. The fast bowler picked injury in the fifth and final game of the ODI series
against Sri Lanka, where he claimed one wicket off three overs, at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abud Dhabi on Wednesday. The allrounder Shahid Afridi, is also included in the squad for the limited overs series against Bangladesh.
Pakistan has announced squad for the tour of Bangladesh, which will start with a Twenty20, scheduled to be played on November 29. In addition, Green Shirts will also play the host in the three ODIs and two Tests.
