Borussia Monchengladbach decides against the signatures of Yuki Otsu- Bundesliga news

Japan U22 international, Yuki Otsu, has missed out on a chance to play in the Bundesliga after Borussia Monchengladbach decided against the signatures of the player. The Japanese was called up to the Borussia-Park on a four day trial as a back-up for Joshua
King whose arrival in Germany has been delayed due to injury. Otsu failed to impress the Foals officials and as a result has been sent back to Japan to resume his services for Kashiwa Reysol.

The Japanese at first seemed enthusiastic at the prospect of playing in Germany but was rejected by the manager, Lucien Favre, after a four day trial. The 21-year-old reckoned that he gave his best in order to impress the selectors but perhaps lacked the
flare and aggression which was demanded by Favre and company.

In an interview to the club’s website, the Manager enthused, “It is difficult to judge a player completely, after four days. I’ve seen good things with him, but I’m not 100 per cent convinced that he is really better than the players we have in the squad.
Therefore we will not sign him.”

Had the player passed his trial at the club, King would still have remained the first priority for the Foals. A source close to the club revealed that Otsu couldn’t cope up with the physical nature of the German football and his style of play did not match
with what they play at the Borussia-Park. As a result, the officials have decided to reassess the player’s progress in the future and until then would wait for King to get fit prior to the start of the new campaign.

Otsu started his professional career with Kashiwa Reysol in 2008 and has bagged seven goals so far from 66 league appearances. The player has yet to appear for the Japanese national side but has already represented his country at the U22 level after making
his debut earlier this year.

Monchengladbach will take on Bayern Munich in their first game of the new campaign on Sunday, August 7.
