Indians looked all fired up on the fourth day of the second test match at Durban to square the series. The result was no different for them, as they secured an 87 run victory over the South Africans. Thanks to some outclass bowling by the pacers and the
off spinner, India was able to register a win, the first one on the current tour to South Africa. It was expected that the team from the subcontinent will give a tough time to the proteas, and so did it prove to be the case.
The likes of Zaheer Khan and Sreesanth were uncontrollable for the mighty Africa. Zaheer Khan pitched in to bag three wickets on the fourth day of the second test, and anchoring a major role in his team’s success. Sreesanth also contributed to the national
cause equally. Harbhajan Singh also displayed outclass bowling effort, sending four of the South African batsmen to the dressing room. And not forgetting Ishant Sharma, he also registered his contribution by taking the wicket of Morne Morkel. So it was a combined
effort from the Indians that allowed them a comeback in the test series.
By this win, the Indians have shown that they are not to be underestimated as the number one test team in the world. The series stand at an equal footing at the moment, with one game to each team. The third one will be the decider of the test series, and
will also announce the dominance of either team over the other.
Jacques Kallis resumed the batting from where all was left overnight, only to get out through a bouncer by Sreesanth. The unplayable delivery took the all important wicket, and from thereafter, South Africa did not stabilize. AB de Villiers, another important
contender to take the game away from the opposition, was rather unlucky when given out. The forward defensive shot caught his pads, and an lbw appeal, only to be given out. The hawk eye suggested otherwise, with the ball going high over the stumps. But the
UDRSS technology was not available and as a result de Villiers had to walk back.
No one offered any resistance after that except for Ashwell Prince, who remained not out even after the match had ended. Morne Morkel also showed some resilience, yet the task was too much for him to conquest. The South Africans stood defeated after a brilliant
bowling performance by the Indians.
