Misbah’s smart captaincy is a big advantage for youngsters: Mohammad Akram

Former Pakistan’s pacer Mohammad Akram is pleased with Misbah-ul-Haq’s captaincy and thinks that the Men in Green have found a perfect leader after facing crisis. Akram tells that Misbah’s calm personality and the way he handles
the situations, demonstrate his quality leadership.  

Akram, who will turn to 37 next week, says that Misbah’s character has a great impact on the youngsters who has recently joined the national team. Akram hails the performances of Misbah and says his journey from domestic to International
cricket is exceptional.      

Talking to media, the Islamabad-born bowler, Akram says, “After all the troubles
Pakistan have faced in recent times, his [Misbah’s] calm personality was just what
Pakistan needed, and as a result he finds himself leader of
Pakistan in all three formats of the game,”

“His calm personality and cool-headed approach can only have a positive impact on the youngsters that are being introduced into the team in all formats of the game,” he added.

Pakistan team is currently on the tour of Zimbabwe, where Misbah and his young Men have brilliantly sealed a victory in the only Test match by 7 wickets played at Bulawayo.  

Akram, who also has been playing with Misbah in the First-class cricket for a long period of time, revealed that Misbah should have been given opportunity to start his career early.

He explained that the way Inzamam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Yousuf has been performing for Pakistan, which restricted Misbah to represent Pakistan at International level.  

Akram elaborated that it is mind blowing that Misbah has shine his side at many levels despite making late start in international cricket.

“In a different era he would have had a much longer test career, but credit to him – he ho as quietly and professionally waited to get his chance and he’s proven to be good enough to cut it at international level,”

Misbah’s exposure in the International cricket was bombastic. He was in great touch during the ICC World Twenty20 Championship in 2007.

He has been played 78 One-Day-International fixtures, scoring 2225 with a brilliant average at 42.78. He has scored 16 half-centuries in the limited format of the game.

He has scored 72 runs in the only Test match against Zimbabwe.
