West Indies versus India-first Test- West Indies first Innings-16-30 Part I

West Indies were at 22 for the loss of one wicket with AB Barath batting on 17 runs and Ramnaresh Sarwan batting on 0 after playing 22 balls. Paraveen Kumar and Amit Mishra were operating from India.

Amit Mishra bowled the 16th over and conceded just one run on the last ball of the over and Barath kept the strike for the next over.

In the 17th over MS Dhoni opted to bring another spinner so he brought his off-spinner Harbhajan singh. He bowled a superb over except the last ball on which Singh was whacked by Barath for a boundary over mid-off. So at the end of the over West
Indies were at 27 for the loss of one wicket only.

Mishra came to bowl the next over with Sarwan on strike. He took a single on the first ball and opened his account. On the second ball of the over Barath smashed a boundary through the gap between mid-off and extra-cover. On the remaining four balls Mishra
did not concede any run.

The next over was bowled by Singh with Sarwan on strike. He bowled a splendid over which was a maiden. In the 20th over Mishra concede just one run. So the Indian bowlers were keeping the hosts under pressure.

The 21st over was bowled by Singh with Sarwan on strike.  On the third ball Sarwan worked the ball towards on-side to take just a single. On the next three balls Singh did not offer any width to the batsman to pinch a single or hit a boundary.

Dhoni brought his pace spearhead Ishant Sharma into the attack once again. Sharma provided a breakthrough on the first ball of his second spell, what a start for the over. He bowled a superb in-dipper and caught Sarwan plumb in front of the wickets no chance
for the umpire to turn down the appeal and he judged Sarwan as LBW. He did not offer any width to the new batsman Darren Bravo and concluded the over as a wicket maiden.
