Indian Hockey Player Danish Mujtaba pleases for scoring goal in Finals

The Indian hockey team was comprised of youngsters; however, they displayed superb performance and won a gold medal in the maiden version of the just concluded Asian Champions Trophy. The entire Indian team is praiseworthy which served the masses in the
form of hockey title after a long ago. However, some players are more pleased who played vital part in the title-claiming match in which India edged past arch-rival Pakistan by 4-2 in the penalty strokes stage. Danish Mujtaba was one of the scorers who converted
their penalty strokes in the knockout stage and had an assist for the Indian side.

The 22-year-old player hailing from Uttar Pradesh was looking such an opportunity to score goals against Greenshirts and serve his side. His dream was come true and he was quite pleased over his performance in the great match.

After the match speaking to the journalists, the Indian striker uttered his happiness saying the most amazing thing was that he scored the goal against Greenshirts. He continued that the emotional feelings and level of excitement high during such games;
however, he was quite satisfied over the game they played in the finals and won the match. The players were quite optimistic for the victory, as they had delivered much improved shows in the round matches, he added.

Commenting on the final penalty shootout round in the title-claiming match, Mujtaba said he was quite spirited but at the same time feeling some pressure, as there was no chance of making error. It is relevant to mention here that he also scored a goal against
the Greenshirts in the previous match that was concluded at 2-2 draw.

Mujtaba is part of the UP Power Corporation as a Sport’s Officer and feels proud for serving the national side in the mega finals. He was of the view, “I feel proud that I have scored against Pakistan both at the junior and the senior level. I remember the
goal I scored against Pakistan during the Commonwealth Games last year. It was a young team and we approached the tournament with confidence which paid off. Our next targets are the Champions Challenge and then the Olympic qualifiers next year. Our coach Michael
Nobbs always tells us never to think negative.”

To a query regarding the ongoing hot issue of cash reward by Hockey India, Mujtaba stated that the prize money after the victory boosted the morale of players and provide the financial assistance to the players to run their homes. In his views, the sportsmen
and sportswomen should be awarded suitable financial assistance and rewards to give players complete mental satisfaction for the better performances. He added that the state governments along with the central body come forward to pay gratitude to the players
of the winning squad.
