Indian Batsmen in the Year 2010

In the year 2010 India has so far played four test-series. India managed to grab a victory in both the series played on its home soil while the other two played in Sri-Lanka
and South africa have been drawn. No team could win without having a mix of good bowlers and batsmen. Here are a few of the prominent performing players of the Indian cricket team during this year:

Virat Kohli stands up in the batting line-up as the highest scorer of runs in ODI’s for his team in the year 2010 during the ODI’s. He has managed to
score about a 1000 runs in 24 innings with an impressive average of 47.38 and a strike rate of 85.11. One of the youngest guns of the Indian team has shined brightly with three centuries and five half-centuries to his name in the calendar year of 2010. He
has also been involved in two 150 run partnerships against Sri-lanka and Bangladesh respectively making way for his team to win on both the occasions.

Sachin Tendulkar of India reached a milestone scoring the 50th century of his test career against South Africa at Centurion Park and people
are already comparing the living legend with the maestro sir Don Bradman himself. The little master has been among the runs this year as he sits on top of the list of highest scorers in test matches in the year 2010. He has scored 1562 runs this year including
7 centuries and five fifties with a brilliant average of 78.21. His fifth double ton also came this year against Australia at Bangalore. He has played only two one-dayers this year and scored a double century in one of them to break yet another record. The
man looks little but his legend is going to be the biggest ever in the history of cricket. The fact that he tends to score most of his runs against the top most teams including Australia and England makes him undoubtedly the best in the world.

VVs Laxman may not be amongst the highest run getters but he surely has a knack of scoring runs when his country needs it most. In 2010 he has been sensational
as he has played a number of memorable innings to get his team into a winning position. An unbeaten 143 against the South Africans and an unbeaten 73 against Australia to name a few and on both occasions his team went on to win the match. He has scored a total
of 939 runs in 11 matches scoring 67 runs each innings on average.

When one talks about Indian cricket one of the first few names that come to mind include that of
Virendar Sehwag. The star batsman for India has done it yet again for India as he piled on a heap of runs in the tests played in 2010. He has scored 1522 runs in the year with an excellent average of 61.82 and a sparkling strike rate of 90.In
addition to that his batting average hasn’t been too bad in the one-dayers as well scoring 40.54 runs on average at a rate of 108.78. In the 12 ODI’s he played this year Sehwag scored 414 runs with a highest of 108.

Gautam Gambhir in the last ODI series against New Zealand was given the added responsibility of captaining the side. With the big guns out of the team
it seemed as if New Zealand would be able to have some respite but Gambhir wasn’t the one to back down as he took them head-on and made two brilliant centuries to lead his team to a  5-0 win in the series adding more misery to the already wounded kiwis. In
the year 2010 Gautam Gambhir has scored 670 runs in 14 matches. His runs have come in at a quick pace of 93.45 per 100 balls and his average has been excellent at 55.83.
