Fabio Coentrao is still a Benfica property- Portuguese Super Liga News

Benfica officials have confirmed that Fabio Coentrao is not certain to join Real Madrid over the next few days. The reports previously suggested that the youngster could seal his move to Spain in a few days time which was immediately denied by the Portuguese
officials. The 23-year-old has been on Madrid’s radar for quite a few weeks now and there is every likelihood that the 23-year-old will be a part of Madrid outfit from the next 2011/12 season.

The wingback himself confirmed that he would only move Benfica in favour of Real Madrid otherwise he is more than happy with the Whites. He seemed quite ecstatic at the prospect of playing alongside his Portugal team-mates like Cristiano Ronaldo, Ricardo
Carvalho and Pepe.  Coentrao also mentioned that playing under the leadership of influential manager, Jose Mourinho, is one of the biggest dreams of his life which could certainly be fulfilled from the next season.

Coentrao has been one of the hot transfer topics this summer but the youngster has clearly stated that his move will come only in favour of Mourinho and he has no intentions of moving elsewhere. Madrid on the other hand also intends to grab the striker at
any cost and says that the officials will make a move soon to ensure the youngster’s arrival at the Bernabeu.

According to a statement, “Fabio Coentrao is a player of Sport Lisboa e Benfica. Unlike the news that came out in some media, fuelled, as always, by ‘sources’ with no name and no face, there is no kind of agreement with Real Madrid. The player’s release
clause is €30 million and the potential interested parties know that.”

Coentrao joined the Benfica outfit in 2007 but was loaned out to Nacional a year later. He then made a loan move to Real Zaragoaza and finally went to Rio Ave before making a move back to Benfica. This season, the player has made 21 League appearances and
netted in two goals to go along with as many assists.
