An interview with Martin Kaymer during the Accenture Championship
The German who is invincible nowadays is flying high and very soon will take the top most spot of the world. Martin Kaymer gave an interview to the press after successfully making it into
the fourth round of Accenture Match Play Championship.
Reporter: Martin, you said you had some tough time against Justin yesterday, and it happened today as well. Can you leave modesty for one time?
Martin Kaymer: What? Listen, I am paid to act modest by the tour. They have asked me to act innocent and avoid Tiger Woods-attitude. Call me in private and then perhaps we can talk about
real stuff.
Reporter: Hey, what happened at the 13th fairway? You smashed a shot and ran away?
Martin Kaymer: What do you want to listen? I was on the fairway, I saw a group of girls wearing a shirt, ‘Marry me Martin’, and man, I had to hit harder to make a quick run. You know my
girl, she is possessive, and I did not wanted to stand there for long or else I would have been kicked out of my own house.
Reporter: Heard, it is going to blow harder tomorrow. Don’t you think it is going to get difficult?
Martin Kaymer: Indeed it will be. It is going to be chilly out there and I have two matches lined up. But you know what; me and Miguel Angel Jimenez are looking forward to tee off near
the ropes. (Winks), wind makes clothes fly and Californian chicks are the biggest motivation against the cold weather.
Reporter: Miguel is 20 years older than you are. Stop checking chicks with an older man.
Martin Kaymer: Yeah, he is older than I am, but he is experienced and a very nice guy. I like gaining knowledge from him in all walks of life. I have no clue regarding his success rate,
but he is a consistent player. He is at times flawless, but I am thinking of giving him a tough competition tomorrow.
Reporter: You are the last top punter left in the tournament. Rest of the boys are long gone and that shows you will have a better chance on the title.
Martin Kaymer: Well, yeah that is somewhat strange. I played terribly in UAE and now I am in the fourth round. You know what, I told the guys near my spot that ‘guys use your skills and
experience against the other boys,’ but they did not bother a bit. You saw how Casey washed away by Jason Day.
Reporter: Talk about up the birdie on 16.
Martin Kaymer: That was a tough shot, but I kept reminding myself that I have to win the hole and the round to walk out as the winner. If I win the championship, I will automatically
reap into the top and man its fun being the world-number one. I remember Tiger Woods getting all the free gadgets and cars. Now, I will get them.
Reporter: At the end of the day, what are your sentiments regarding Graeme?
Martin Kaymer: Who? Is that some saloon? You know, I need a facial, once I get out of here. Look at my skin; it is getting dry and scaly because of the weather.
Reporter: Kaymer, I meant Graeme McDowell.
Martin Kaymer: Oh… Yeah, he is a good player, but he is such a copycat. He gave me a tough time in Race to Dubai and now once again, he is chasing on me through the rankings. I have
heard, if I become the number one, he will be the second man behind me. But thanks Lord, he is finally out of the tournament.
