The talismanic defender had been on Luciano Spalletti radar for some time. The Italian tactician had himself admitted the interest in the 24 year old.

“I can tell you that Zenit is looking for a strengthening of its squad, as we have already said before. Criscito may be one of our targets”.

Domenico Criscito is an Italian national footballer who had started his career in Serie A with Juventus FC and appeared in just 8 games for the Italian club. The lack of first team football forced the defender to make a move through the old lady towards
Genoa.

Zenit sports director, Igor Korneev had some words of praise for him and admitted the head coach known for his aggressive style of play want to strengthen his side with offensive players.

“Criscito – it is the player who had long been in our interests. Breeding service led him over somewhere two years. What can I say to him? He is a young, physically strong player, the main Italian national team player who can play at once at several positions
on both the left and centre, and can help the team in offensive actions”.

The sports director further added that the head coach will decide the possible arrival of Criscito, whether he will start training with the squad on July 8 or not.

Andrea D’Amico, agent of the player has delighted with his client move towards Russia and revealed that his client is excited to work with his new team

The head coach at Zenit revealed that the transfer saga has not ended with the signing. Zenit wanted the left back and now eagerly looking for more in the transfer market.

The Italian left back has 15 caps for his national side and attracted the likes of Europe’s elite in Liverpool FC, AC Milan and FC Bayern Munich. But the prospect of playing in the starting 11 for a UEFA Champions League club has lured him away from Italy.
