Zenit St. Petersburg manager, Luciano Spalletti satisfied with the team performance against Volga Nizhny

Luciano Spalletti has heaped praise for Zenit against a tough Volga side in the 14 round of Russian premier league held on 18 June, 2011 at Lokomotiv stadium.

The Italian tactician, who became the successor to Dick Advocaat at Zenit (2009), is known for offensive playing style has won the match with Zenit against Volga by netting two early goals away from home.

Zenit took an early lead with the strike of Aleksandr Kerzhakov under ten minutes mark at the Lokomotiv stadium and completed his brace, thanks to the wonderful assist by the Russian championship top scorer, Danko Lazovic.

Zenit is currently second in the Russian premier league table chasing the league leaders, CSKA Moscow who is only two points above Zenit, with a game in hand.

The former AS Roma Coach who has won Russian Cup with the Russian club last year has revealed that Zenit have played quality football. After the two goal lead, Zenit had controlled the game superbly and were looking to add another goal.

“Our team had a number of scoring chances of the faithful and the two of them realized. During the game my players have shown a high technical skill, good combinational football, I would say – playing fantasy. In a word, beat an opponent on all counts. I
just told the boys at half-time to control the ball calmly and once again not to lose it in simple situations. When the players themselves are aware, they do not have to adjust if they say the right things, you must agree with them, and do not necessarily
interfere with the coach”.

Spalletti has also desired to remain with the Russian club till the end of the season after the unexpected loss against FC Tom Tomsk in which Zenit conceded 2 goals and scored one. Zenit has had problems winning away from home since the start of the season
but Spalletti seems to have adjusted the issue well enough by a comfortable win away from home.
