Trends in golf are changing now, as in history the sports golf was only associated with the Americans, but claiming such statement now might be biased. The reason behind the story is due to the growing golf of European countries.
Does USA face competition in recent times? Yes! The only competition for Americans can now be expected from Europeans.
In recent times, Europeans improved their golfing skills by competing against the Americans. It might not be wrong to say in favor, that golf is flourishing in Europe with a fast pace and many young and talented faces are joining
the sport.
Years passed and multiple records were created, most of them were by Americans. Now the time has come to talk in favor of Europeans for their extra effort and tremendous performance for the year 2011. It’s not like US is stepping
back, it’s like Europeans improving their performance with the international sport named golf.
Let’s have a look on the stats which will justify the improvements. It was November 27th, when the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) released their updated list and on the top we have Luke Donald, an English professional,
then Rory McIlroy, an Irish golf player on second, lee Westwood, another English golfer is on third and at the fourth we have Martin Kaymer, a German golfer.
From where the above listed golf players belong? The answer will be simple, they all are Europeans. Yes! It’s a fact, the top-four positions are secured by Europeans whereas in past, only Americans were honored for the highest
ranks.
Now another question will be, where does Americans lies in the ranking charts? We have to look back again towards the OWGR for the answer, Dustin Johnson, an American golf player is at the fifth-position then we have Steve Stricker
on sixth.
The top four positions in ranking clear the situation and further support to justify the statement will also be in favor of European player Luke Donald, who is recent no. 1 for consecutive 27 weeks, to be on the top might be easy,
but to defend the position and to be up to the mark is very difficult. Luke Donald proved his excellence by maintaining his top most position globally for almost half a year, former no.1 was Tiger Woods, an American, but now he is ranked in 50’s.
Luke Donald can achieve the honor, as he is 34-years of age. How about Rory McIlroy? A young talented face, aged 22-years and on the second position, Yes, he is also a European professional golf player. His performance speaks loudly
about his effective golf. He also entitled the glory of winning U.S Open, which is the bright victory of his career this year.
Stats cannot support the statement without including total wins by Europeans, in 2011, European team and golf players won ten titles. The last tournament of Race to Dubai will be played in December and the expected victory will
again in favor of Europeans, as all the top ranked golf players, most are Europeans, will be showing their presence in the tournament.
With the productive performance and ranking, trend is changing. The change can also be effective at making grounds for the safe and secure future of golf globally, now Americans have to concentrate more than before, to compete
against the Europeans and to win back the top ranking positions.
