Real Madrid clash comes at an ideal time suggests Michel Bastos – UEFA Champions League News

According to reports the Olympique Lyonnaise player, Michel Bastos, has expressed his confidence ahead of his team’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday. The Brazilian has suggested that the tie could not have come at a better time for
the French giants.

The winger has been in great form recently. He has been performing exceptionally well for the Ligue 1 side. He managed to score a brace in Lyon’s 3-1 win over Nancy on Saturday.

The win helped Lyon move up to the third spot in the Ligue 1 standings.

However, Bastos appears to set his eyes on the Champions League fixture that is set to take place in Santiago Bernabeu. Lyon will need their best form when they visit Spain’s capital to face Jose Mourinho’s men.

Real Madrid and Olympique Lyon will be facing each other in the coveted competition for the third consecutive year. Bastos will be featuring in Lyon’s squad after missing the last two meetings the both clubs had – once due to suspension and the other due
to injury.

It will be very interesting to watch if the Brazilian’s inclusion in the squad can bring along a preferred result for Remi Garde.

While talking about the clash against Madrid, Bastos said:

“This will be my first match against Real Madrid in two seasons because I was suspended for one match, and then I was injured for the other,”

“The game against Real Madrid comes at a great time for me and Lyon because I am confident and I want to make a difference, like I did against Nancy.”

Lyon have been in exceptional form this season. So far they have been beaten only twice in all the competitions that they have been a part of. They are two points behind Los Blancos in UEFA Champions League group stages.

The French side will be hoping to improve their position in Group D as they look forward to what promises to be a very competitive fixture. Bastos is confident they can take the game to Jose Mourinho’s men and come away with all three points.
