Pedro Rodriguez, Carles Puyol, Lionel Messi: Barcelona’s injury list after Sevilla clash – Part 2

The Spanish youngster Pedro Rodriguez has scored a lot of goals in the 2010-11 season and has made himself count for Josep Guardiola.

The Catalan star made off-the-bench appearances last season and still managed to score 22 goals. This season, Josep Guardiola had to play a right winger with Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic leaving for AC Milan, and Pedro Rodriguez was the perfect choice
for the position.

Last season, Rodriguez impressed the whole world with his outstanding off-the-bench appearances. He was good enough to be selected for the Spanish squad, which performed in the FIFA World Cup 2010. With Fernando Torres not playing full games for the Spanish
side, Rodriguez was chosen over him. Despite the fact that Pedro did not find the back of the net throughout the competition, he still impressed on the right wing position.

With the Spanish squad returning to continue the season with its respective team, Guardiola decided to play Pedro in his first team. Thus David Villa, Lionel Messi and Pedro Rodriguez became an integral part of the team and also became the first choice strikers
for Barcelona.

The three of them did not take a lot of time to settle down with one another as the first game that they played against Racing Santander resulted in a three-goal haul as Barcelona prevailed while being away from home.

Pedro Rodriguez has scored 20 goals in 42 appearances that he has made this season. Not to speak of the goals that he is scoring for the team, the young Spaniard has also assisted the team with 10 goals, thereby showing that he has a great chemistry with
the first team. He combines well with Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta, Daniel Alves and the newly-signed Spanish goal-scoring machine, David Villa.

Furthermore, Pedro got injured right when the game started in Seville. The Spaniard had to withdraw as Bojan Krkic took his position on the pitch. After giving the required rest, Pedro’s medical tests were carried out on Monday morning and he has been diagnosed
with sports hernia. Pedro Rodriguez is a serious doubt for the game against Getafe that is going to take place on Saturday. The Spaniard is the second most important player whom Barcelona are going to miss out on. The Spanish Champions are already in injury
crisis and Pedro has now joined the injured players’ list now.

Earlier, skipper Carles Puyol suffered with a left knee tendonitis as the Spanish La Liga season commenced. The Spanish captain was expected to return against Arsenal during the UEFA Champions League game. However, he felt pain in his knee again while training.
Puyol became the first seriously injured player for Barcelona.

In conclusion, all the three players – Puyol, Messi and Pedro – are very important for Barcelona and Josep Guardiola is definitely going to miss them.
