Preview “Nigeria all set to whip aside Sierra Leone in a friendly international”

Samson Siasia’s Nigeria will take on Christian Cole’s Sierra Leone on Wednesday, the 9 of February at Teslim Balogum stadium, Surulere, Lagos.

Nigeria will look for a fresh start under their new coach Siasia. Super eagles will take this friendly as an ideal and only opportunity to find a proper combination for the upcoming African cup of nation’s qualifiers from next month.

The super eagles haven’t been in the finest of forms off late and the team that has been put in for this friendly encounter was formed on a quick note due to the busy schedule of its players.

All the new faces that have been included in the eagle’s squad will look to impress the new coach so that they stay in contention of the coach’s future plans.

Sierra Leone will be fancying their chances against an under strength Nigeria’s side. This will be Leone’s best chance of an upset and along with it, an ideal opportunity for them to get prepared for their African cup of nation’s qualifier against Niger
in Niamey.

Nigeria’s more established players would also be hoping to cement their places by performing at their very best and getting the vote of confidence of their new coach.

Nigeria’s biggest challenge is when they will take on Ethopia in an AFCON qualifier in March 2011.

The last time Nigerian team was together, they suffered a 1-0 loss to Guinea in October 2010, in Conakry.

When these two teams met last time in the African cup of nation qualifiers in 2010, Super eagles came out victorious on both the occasions i:e home and away.

One boost for the eagles is the call up of Victor Mosses, who plays for Wigan Athletic in the English premier league. Mosses is an England U-21 player but he is a Nigerian by berth. The newly appointed Samson Siasia has talked to the player and by the look
of things, he has convinced the international to represent Nigeria.

Another big step that Siasa has taken is to bring Newcastle’s united striker Shola Ameobi into the eagle’s ranks. At first, Ameobi was also set to play for England national team but a series of injuries has forced an ignorant behaviour by the England team
management.

Ameobi, also is set to represent Nigeria. This will further strengthen the eagle’s squad and will help them to go a long way beyond just qualifying for the African cup of nations.

Nigeria, apart from the inclusion of these two players will also look at the likes of Chelsea’s midfielder, John Obi Mikel, West Bromwich Albion striker, Peter Odemwingie and West Ham United’s fiery striker Victor Obinna. Recently, Obinna has been in a terrific
goal scoring form and the eagles will hope that the striker could continue in the same vain when he faces Sierra Leone.

Sierra Leone, on the other hand will pin their hopes upon the defenders to try and stop the eagles coming forward and block each and every thing that comes their way. Ibrahim Kargbo and Sheriff Suma will play a major role in Leone’s defence.

Even the Nigeria’s under strength squad looks efficient enough to get the hold of Sierra Leone and try out different combinations in order to be prepared in time for the AFCON qualifiers.
