Nene hopes to extend stay at Paris Saint-Germain – Ligue 1 news
Paris Saint-German winger Nene hopes to extend his contract with the capital club and stay at Parc des Princes.
The former Santos man was the best player for Les Parisiens last season by scoring 14 goals. The 30-year-old Brazilian came in 10th place in last season’s scoring charts and is hopeful of repeating the feat.
Les Parisiens have signed nine players this summer spending more than 80 million Euros in the transfer window thanks to the takeover of Qatar Sports Investment earlier this summer. With PSG Coach Antoine Kombouare preferring new recruits Nene might be deemed
for a more peripheral role with the capital outfit.
With the arrival of Jeremy Menez, Nene might find it hard to break into the first-team and might not be able to get regular playing time. last season, the Brazilian was an ever-present fixture in the PSG starting XI. However, things have now changed as Antoine
Kombouare has the luxury of choosing players owing to the depth of the PSG squad.
However, Nene is willing to run the extra mile in order to become an integral part of the PSG side once again. The midfielder is not worried about competition for places in the starting XI and has vowed to give it his best. In an interview to RTL the 30-year-old
revealed plans about his future and his willingness to continue his adventure with Les Rouge-et-Bleu.
He was quoted saying, “My future is in Paris. Last year at PSG was the best season of my life which won me a lot of support from the public and everyone. But it is the leadership of the PSG that will decide whether I deserve to stay. I want to continue the
Brazilian tradition in Paris.”
The former AS Monaco man’s contract expires in 2013 and is well aware of the opportunity to take his footballing skills elsewhere in the winter transfer window. However, Nene has decided to stay at Parc des Princes.
The management may prefer young players like Javier Pastore and Jeremy Menez but given regular playing time in the side Nene might still be able to play a vital role in accomplishing Les Parisiens aims of winning a treble.
