Lechuza Caracas overpowers Pony Express-Detroit Blues in Wanderer’s Classic
It was a nice day at the field of International Polo Club Palm Beach where Lechuza Caracas in a straining way defeated Pony Express-Detroit Blues in the second competition of the Wanderer’s Classic Cup.
The foursome of Lechuza by flexing its muscles overpowered Pony Express through a wide-difference 11-6 and upped its position in the tournament.
The first chukker was opened with the first goal of Francisco Collardin of Lechuza followed by a goal from his teammate, Matt Coppola. Later on Nick Snow of Pony Express marked a goal and boosted up his team members. Interestingly all the goals in the first
frame were scored on penalty shots. Lechuza was leading the score, 2-1 at the end of the first chukka.
Collardin, the outstanding striker of Lechuza, marked a pair of goals in the second frame and extended the lead of his foursome up to three goals, 4-1. Pony Express due to scrimping defence strategies remained scoreless in the second chukker.
Third frame was quite hard hitting for Pony Express as the lead of Lechuza further stretched up to four goals. Coppola and Collardin accounted for one goal apiece and put opponent Pony Express under severe pressure. Nick though attempted to reduce the lead
by marking a goal before the half-time but it could not end wide difference. Lechuza snuck out to 6 -2 lead at the end of first half.
Gaston Lisioli opened the fourth chukker with a classic goal on a penalty shot, which was replied by Tomas Goti. The effort of Goti proved that Pony Express is still standing at the striking line. The frame concluded at commanding lead of Lechuza by four
goals, 7-3.
In start of the second-last chukka, Lechuza’s Collardin marked another pair of goals of which one was scored from the field while other on a penalty shootout. The foursome of Pony Express in a shaking state started offensive game and carried out numerous
attacks. Nick and Colin McCosh marked one goal apiece and reduced the lead again to four goals. Though Pony Express was not attaining much but it wasn’t ready to lose the hope.
The last chukka was opened with the classic goal of Nick, which certified his team’s presence in the game. Later on Francisco Agustino and in-form Collardin contributed one goal each for the Lechuza side and sealed the victory at 11-6.
The top scorer of the game was Francisco Collardin with seven goals while Coppola accounted for two goals. Agustino and Lisioli contributed one goal each for Lechuza.
On the other hand Nick Snow marked three goals and Tomas Goti accounted for one goal in the losing side.
