Javier Garrido: “We were not successful in the details” – La Liga News

Villarreal were on the road in Andalusia to take on the challenge of Malaga at La Rosaleda in this La Liga fixture. The beleaguered Valencian team lost the clash 2-1 with the coach slating their inability to control the details of the match.

Marco Ruben nullified Jeremy Toulalan’s opener but Isco’s goal at the death of first half was enough to bag the three points for the home team.

Javier Garrido stated after the match that it was a tough match for his team, coming away from home and playing against Manuel Pellegrini’s team.

“It is clear that we knew we played a tough game and has a very ambitious project. The Malaga is a great team that deals with European area, where we want to be. It was an even game, hotly contested, with many alternatives,” Garrido stated.

Nevertheless, he praised his charges who have played a great game of football. He said that they lacked the final blow in the match and that was why they were unable to get a positive result.

He pointed out that even though they played an excellent game, they were unable to get the minute details of the match right which affected the final result.

“Villarreal have played a great game. We lacked hit. A party of this kind is solved for details and here we have not been successful.

“We competed from the start. The only reading is to lift your head and think for next match. We have to take positive conclusions,” he said.

It was the first time Santi Cazorla faced his boyhood club after moving to the cash-rich Malaga in the summer transfer window. The 22 million Euros signing was influential in the win against his old employers.

Garrido reaffirmed the club’s affection for their lost talisman and stated that it was special to play against him, going on to say that they would have found it difficult to keep a player of such repute in their squad.

After 13 La Liga games, Villarreal are 12th in La Liga rankings and will head to El Sardinero to battle for points against Racing Santander.
