Dutch Eredivisie: NAC Breda, VVV-Venlo, Willem II Tilburg – Week 28 Previews

NAC Breda vs. FC Groningen

Eredivisie strugglers, NAC Breda, will clash with the stunning, FC Groningen, at Rat Verlegh Stadion on Saturday.

NAC are coming into this game on the back of a 2 – 1 defeat from Eredivisie fallen giants, Feyenoord Rotterdam, at Feijenoord Stadion last week. The Rats are currently placed 13th in the league table, acquiring 33 points from 27 matches.

The Yellow Army have performed superbly in front of their home crowd, as they bagged a point or more in 11 of their 14 matches. However, they have struggled to perform on the road, acquiring only five points from their 13 matches.

NAC were going through financial crises since 2009/10 season and many of the management staff resigned from their posts last year. However, a financier who has invested a large amount of sum in NAC last week has secured the club. Club director, Ed Busse
Laar, said; “We have avoided that NAC don’t falls in the hands of a third party, but now we are saved.”

On the other hand, Pride of the North are coming on the back of a 1 – 0 defeat from FC Utrecht last week. The Green-White-Army are in a disastrous form, as they have bagged only a solitary point from their last five matches. Consequently, they have lost
the race for the title, as they were looking confident to lift the Eredivisie title at the start of the last month.

Pride of the North are currently placed fifth in the league table, trailing a mammoth 13 points from the league leaders, PSV Eindhoven. With seven matches left to play in the season, their hopes to become Dutch champions look farfetched.

Head-to-Head statistics

There is nothing to choose between the two sides in their last five matches, as both teams have won two encounters and one match ended in a stalemate.

Prediction

The Green-White-Army have struggled to find good results in recent weeks and NAC have performed superbly in front of their home crowd so far this season. It will be an easy 2 – 0 win for the home side.

VVV-Venlo vs. Willem II Tilburg

It will be a battle for relegation when VVV-Venlo clash with Willem II Tilburg at De Koel Venlo on Saturday.

The Good Old are coming in to this game on the back of a 2 – 1 defeat from defending Eredivisie champions, FC Twente Enschede, at De Grolsch Veste last week. They are currently placed 17th in the league table, a mammoth 13 points adrift from the
safety zone. With seven matches remaining, the Good Old will be looking to hold on to the 17th spot and participate in the relegation play-offs.

On the other hand, 18th place is the only salvation for the Tricolores in the coming weeks if they do not win their remaining fixtures. They have one last chance in the upcoming encounter to improve their standing in the league table.

The Tricolores are coming in to this game on the back of a 3 – 1 defeat from Eredivisie giants, AFC Ajax Amsterdam, in front of their home crowd last week. The Tricolores will look to emerge victorious in this match if they have any ambition to play in the
Dutch top-flight next season.

Head-to-Head statistics

The Good Old have won three of their last five encounters against the Tricolores. One match ended in a stalemate and the Tilburg outfit managed to bag all three points in the remaining match.

Prediction

It will be tough encounter, as both sides would be looking to bag all points. However, the Tricolores poor performances suggest that the match will end 3 – 2 win in favour of the home side.
