Didier Drogba says Chelsea form is worst in his time at club

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba says that his side’s current run of form is the worst he has encountered during his time with the English Premier League champions.

The Blues have lost two of their last three league games ― a 1-0 defeat away to Birmingham City followed on the back of a 3-0 home loss to Sunderland ― while they could only take a point in a 1-1 draw with Newcastle United on Sunday 28 November.

Chelsea also lost 2-0 to Liverpool on 7 November, and their recent run of poor results has seen them slip two points behind Manchester United ― who thumped Blackburn Rovers 7-1 in their last game ― in the race for the title.

The club’s recent form is in stark contrast to the start of the season, where they won their first five league games, having scored 21 goals and conceded just one.

Drogba ― who is also struggling, having not scored in the EPL for over two months ― told reporters: “It is maybe the worst run of form I’ve known since I came to the club. It is not a good moment.

“It is not happening in front of goal. I had some moments where I didn’t even create chances and I was scoring goals but this is a moment where I’m creating maybe more chances than usual. I am a bit unlucky. The most important thing is not that I am not
scoring but we are losing points.”

Chelsea’s next chance to stop the rot will come when they welcome Everton to Stamford Bridge on Saturday 4 December.

The Toffees are struggling in the EPL this season, as they lie in 16th place, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
