Arsenal wants Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon

According to reports from Italy, Juventus goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon, is considering his future with the Turin club after he became aware that Premier League outfits, Arsenal and Manchester United, along with Serie A rivals, AS Roma, are interested in
acquiring him.

Buffon has remained a loyal servant for Juventus during the club’s most turbulent times in history. He sticked with the club when it was relegated to Serie B, back in 2006, due to corruption and match fixing allegations. The 33 year-old has spent a decade
at Turin since his record signing back in 2001 in a deal worth £32.6 million. He still holds the record for the most expensive goalkeeper of all time. He has represented Italy in 104 matches at international level and was part of the team that won the 2006
FIFA World Cup and the Euro 2008.

Arsene Wenger is a long time admirer of Buffon and tried to lure the Italian keeper to Emirates Stadium following Juventus relegation. It seems that Arsenal have rekindled their interest in him after they learnt that Juventus would not respond to his demands
for a better deal and are ready to offload him. His current contract with Juventus expires in 2013.

Arsenal is amidst a goalkeeping crisis after injuries to Wojciech Szczesny and Manuel Almunia. Arsene Wenger is looking to snap a senior pro in the summer transfer window in light of the poor performances from Almunia,

“The situation is as follows. Frankly speaking, even the player doesn’t know what Juventus will do in the next two months.” a report claims. “Gianluigi doesn’t know if he has been put on the market, or if the club wants to keep him. Juventus will confirm
that in the next month, and Gianluigi will react when the club have made a decision.”

He has set his heart to finish his career in Italy but it is not insured that his wish will be fulfilled. “If Juventus decide they would like to keep him, Gianluigi will most probably stay, but either way he would like clarification over his future”, the report
added.
