Andre Schurrle bemoans Bayer Leverkusen’s draw with newly promoted Hertha Berlin- Bundesliga News

Having played out an unlikely 3-3 draw against newly promoted Hertha Berlin, Bayer Leverkusen attacker, Andre Schurrle, has raised concern at his team’s dip in form. He also urged his players to stay consistent in order to achieve favourable results in the
future games.

Schurrle was talking in the wake of his team’s unlikely draw at the weekend. Berlin hosted the Werkself on Saturday, November 27, at Olympiastadion with the match ending all square at 3-3.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga collected a brace to go along with Omer Toprak’s own goal, allowing Berlin to play out an entertaining draw in front of the home fans.

Leverkusen were boasted by Eren Derdiyok’s fine hat-trick but his effort wasn’t enough to guide his team past Markus Babbel’s men on Saturday.

The Werkself went into the game on the back of an important win over Chelsea in the Champions League. Robin Dutt’s men were expected to have a relatively easy outing against the new boys who were exceptional in holding their opponents to a 3-3 draw.

Lasogga put the hosts ahead in just the seventh minute before going 2-0 up through Toprak’s own goal on the 17th minute mark.

Derdiyok pulled one back in the 24th minute before going into the dugout, a goal behind. The striker brought his team on level terms after the restart before completing his hat-trick to stage a remarkable comeback after being 2-0 down inside the
first 20 minutes.

Lasogga, three minutes later, scored his second and Berlins’ third to ensure a tense finale. However, no team struck again, much to the disappointment of the Werkself who had to leave, bagging just a single point from their visit.

Schurrle expressed grief at his team’s draw as it widens the gap between Bayer and rest of the teams sitting above them. He opined that his side took their opponents lightly and as a result had to be contend with a disappointing draw.

While sharing his disappointment with Kicker, Schurrle concluded:

“This is definitely a backwards step for us, we wanted to get closer to the leaders, but now it appears there is a larger gap between us and the top. We always let in stupid goals. This is insane. This [Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s equaliser] was again a very
simple situation in the field, that we resolved very badly.”
