E. Masked Marvel gave the second opportunity to John Gosden and William Buick to win the St Leger in September

The three-year colt under the training of John Gosden raced six times this season and his fifth attempt turned out to be a victory on 10th September at the Ladbrokes St Leger Stakes Group 1 at Doncaster.

This was a second time that John Gosden and William Buick won the St Leger title as before this in year 2010 it was Artic Cosmos who broke through the wire first.

As the rest of the Classic races, the St Leger Stakes is a Group 1 flat horse race open for three-year-old to participate. It is the oldest amongst the five classic races as it was first held in 1776 and it is also the longest from the four preceding races
as it is run over a distance of 1 mile, 6 furlongs and 132 yards. It also is the last pillar that qualifies one for the English Triple Crown and the Fillies’ Triple Crown.

The Leger this year saw nine contestants battling for it at Doncaster. It was a highly versatile selection of competition. Tom Dascombe’s Brown Panther secured the second position with Kieren Fallon onboard. Sea Moon trained by Sir Michael Stoute was positioned
third in the race.

The other entries included A P O’Brien’s Seville, finishing the race fourth followed by Richard Hannon’s Census riding out fifth. Mahmood Al Zarooni trained Blue Bunting covered the track sixth.

The other entry by the winning trainer John Gosden was Buthelezi who ended the race placed seventh. Genius Beast, Mahmood Al Zarooni’s yet another entry in the race got parked second last and the race was concluded with Rump trained by Saeed Bin Suroor marching
out in the end.

Before this on 18th May Masked Marvel won the IBA Cocked Hat Stakes at Goodwood placing Mark Johnston’s Namibian in the second position. Picture Editor entered by Sir Henry Cecil finished third to the winner.

On 7th July, Masked Marvel won the Bahrain Trophy Group 3 at Newmarket with Census trained by Richard Hannon was the runner up for the race under Ryan Moore. Mick Channon trained Zain Al Boldan ranked third in the race.

However, Masked Marvel was the last to finish the race on 2nd October, the Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe Group 1 on a track of sixteen contenders.
