USA Volleyball announces the venue and schedule of future Volleyball High Performance Championships
The USA Volleyball (USAV) is pleased to announce the schedule and venue of the 2012 and 2013 Volleyball High Performance Championships (HPC). The capital city of American state Lowa, Des Moines and Fort Lauderdale, Florida have been selected as the future
hosts of HPC, respectively. Usually the annual event of Volleyball High Performance Championship is held in the month of July.
The Lowa Events Centre in Des Moines will host the 2012 HPC from July 25-29, while Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Centre in Ft. Lauderdale will be the host of HPC from July 24-28, 2013. Des Moines will host the event for the first time but Fort
Lauderdale has already hosted two championships. Previously, the Floridian City hosted the Girls’ High Performance Championship in 2006 and double-gender HPC in 2007.
This is the long term planning of USAV that they announced the High Performance Championship cities in so advance. In the past, the host cities were announced less than a year out. Nonetheless, it is good decision and it will give a lot of time to the host
cities to fully prepare for the big event.
According to the set pattern USAV, the HPC will draw more than 90 teams in the competition. Different age groups will demonstrate their skills on the court. The HPC follows the FIVB rules but with some necessary amendments. Matches feature the best-of-five
format, while most of the teams appear in 8 matches.
The USA Volleyball Managing Director of Indoor High Performance, Tom Pingel expressed his views about host cities. He said, “We are excited at the opportunity to take the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships to Des Moines. I know that Des Moines
and the Iowa Region will be fabulous hosts in 2012. Returning to Ft. Lauderdale is an easy decision as they have been the host of some of our most successful HP Championships and I’m sure the same will be true in 2013.”
Pingel further added, “Announcing the dates and sites of the event this far in advance is simply to confirm our intentions with the host cities, as well as let the Regions conducting HP Region programs to be able to better prepare for the future.”
The 2011 HPC will be held in Tucson, Arizona in the upcoming July. The 13th HPC will run from July 26-30, 2011.
