Pasquale Marino’s Parma to take on the Vincenzo Montella’s AS Roma

Manager Vincenzo Montella will for the first time be in charge of AS Roma at home against Pasquale Marino’s Parma after taking over from Claudio Ranieri as Roma manager. Parma will visit
Stadio Olimpico, Roma on Sunday, February 27, 2011.

Roma are fresh from a 1-0 victory against Bologna in the midweek which was Montella’s first assignment as a care taker manager. This was also Roma’s first victory after suffering a loss
in previous six games that also included a dramatic 4-3 loss to Genoa. The Giallorossi’s
were leading Genoa 3-0 at half time but conceded 4 goals in the 2nd half to go down in most dramatic circumstances.

However, the 6th placed side will look to build upon their win against Bologna and strengthen their claim for the UEFA Champions League. Roma did not live up to the fans expectations
earlier that resulted in the resignation of Ranieri. Before their win against Bologna, the
Giallorossi’s last won a game on January 27, 2011 against Juventus.

Montella’s men have achieved 12 victories so far this season, 8 of them have come at home. They have lost 8 times throughout the course of the season, losing only once at home. Five of
their eight losses have come in the recent month of February. Roma have conceded 39 goals in the campaign so far as compared to the 36 they have scored themselves.

Roma, in their last five matches have only been victorious once, while they have suffered losses on other four occasions.

Parma, on the other hand are 15th in the Serie A table and just 4 points clear of the drop zone.
Crociati’s have managed just 6 victories so far in the season to go along with 11 losses. They have just won twice away from home while lost eight times on their travels.

Parma have conceded 36 goals so far as compared to the 25 they have scored which shows their lack of defensive abilities.

Visitors, in their last five games haven’t tasted victory even once. They drew on two occasions while their three losses have come against the likes of AC Milan, Lecce and Genoa. The last
five head to head games between the two sides have seen Roma come out on top on three occasions while the other two ties ended on level terms.

The visitors will be looking forward to inflict a defeat upon Montella’s men that would take them to 30 points but a loss would not be a good result for the struggling Parma team.

Giallorossi’s
are surrounded by the injuries and suspensions to their key players which could play a major role in the outcome of that game. Their on-loan defender from Parma, Paolo Castellini, midfielder Simone Perrotta and the striker Adriano are all injured and remain
a doubt for Sunday’s encounter.  French defender Philippe Mexes and the Italian Leandro Greco will also miss the game through suspension.

Crociati,
on the other hand will travel to Rome without their injured duo of Spanish striker; Fernando Marques and the midfielder Toni Calvo who is on-loan from Aris Thessaloniki.

Despite of the injury concerns, AS Roma are clear favourites to topple their opponents and the home advantage will also play a key role during the encounter.
