Pune warriors hopeful about Angelo Mathews’ return

Pune warriors are hopeful that Sri Lankan all rounder Angelo Mathews will return to their side after being completely fit from the injury. Mathews was ruled out of the World Cup Final due to a pulled muscle.

Angelo Mathews is known for his controlled pace bowling and aggressive batting at the end of an innings. Mathews has pulled the Sri-Lankan team out of the storm on many an occasion. Therefore he carries a reputation for managing pressure situations efficiently
and effectively.

The final camp for this franchise is scheduled to commence from Tuesday at the DY Patel Stadium Mumbai. Mathews’ fitness will be tested in few days and if he fails, the franchise will call for his replacement.

Mathews left the field in the semi-final encounter against New Zealand as he suffered a minor quadriceps muscle injury.  He appear to bat but with a runner.

Throughout the ICC World Cup Campaign of Sri Lanka Mathew proved a great help for the team as a pacer and a middle order batsman. Sri Lankan team missed the likes of Angelo Mathews as he failed to participate in the Final Encounter against India. If Mathews
would have played the scenario could have been different. Sri Lankan skipper Kumar Sangakkara was also upset for the blow which he and his team mates received in form on Mathew’s injury.

Mathews who has 6 ODI half-centuries to his name and 33 wickets to his credit possesses all the credentials of a great all rounder in the making. During his current World Cup Campaign he piled up 94 runs and picked up 6 wickets in 8 world cup appearances.

Star players injured during the World Cup will affect the Indian premier league. Kings XI Punjab signed Ryan McLaren for Stuart broad and after losing Dimitri Mascarenhas, Mumbai Indians have a replacement. Deccan chargers will also be without the services
of their most explosive batsmen Kevin Peterson as he will be undergoing through hernia surgery.
