PCB and BCCI ready to postpone Asia Cup to resume Indo-Pak cricketing affairs – Cricket News Update
According to the sources, if Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will finalise to organise bilateral series between the two countries next year, then the Asian Cricket Council (ACC)
would postpone the Asia Cup to avoid any clash.
The sources affirmed that the ACC wants PCB and BCCI to resume cricketing affairs between Pakistan and India.
Meanwhile, the governing bodies of cricket in both countries are also looking forward to schedule a complete series rather than preferring the Asia Cup, which can be played later some time.
“This is a decision taken in principle at the meeting of the ACC Executive Council and both the Pakistan and India Boards have also supported it,” a credible source said.
At the moment, the Asia Cup is scheduled to start from March, 13 to 21, next year, and BCCI has shown interest to play series with Pakistan in the start of the same month, which compelled PCB to prefer to start cricketing relation
with its neighbours.
“Our tour to India if it takes place is part of the future tours program while the Asia Cup can be rescheduled for a later date,” a PCB source cited.
Earlier, according to the reports, Indian and Pakistani governments showed massive interest to resume cricketing affairs with each other.
The cricket resumption topic was under discussion during the recent meeting between the foreign ministers of both the countries.
The Pakistan’s foreign minister, Hina Rabbani Khar has stated that cricket can provide opportunity to both nations to come close to each other, when she was touring India.
Meanwhile, the Indian minister, SM Krishna was also agreed with Hina, said that they want to host Pakistani cricket team desperately.
Indian Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla, who is also vice-president of BCCI, confirmed to the Pakistan’s minster, Hina that they will converse the matter to organize cricket series between India and Pakistan
in their upcoming meeting.
Earlier, after the Semi Final of the ICC World Cup 2011 between India and Pakistan, both governments were also agreed to organize the bilateral series.
However, later, The BCCI showed least interest in this regard, and expressed its concern over the terrible security situation in Pakistan.
