MHL top scorer award falls to Razie Rahim
Mohd Razie Abdul Rahim – the 26-goal scorer – the legendary striker of Kula Lumpur Hockey Club (KLHC) has been chosen for Top Scorer Award of the Malaysian Hockey League (MHL).
Fabled drag flicker of KLHC, Razie Rahim has been facing injuries and would not part of the team in the league’s finals against Sapura scheduled to be held on March 19, 2011. But the legendary striker prior to the final game has been named as best scoring
player of the event.
Out of total twenty-six goals, Razie scored twenty-three through penalty conversions.
Among the following scorers of Razie, Mohd Amin Rahim and Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin are prominent names with eighteen goals. But alike Razie, Amin Rahim, the player of Tenga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will not contest the play-off competition against Yayasan Negri
Sembilan (YNS) for the third-place due to injury.
Razie, the versatile striker representing Ernst and Young (currently KLHC) made his debut in the league back in 2006.
Razie managed only ten points in the last year’s league but this time he made surprise all hockey lovers by illuminating the lamp twenty-six times. This performance surely would assist him to be replaced with Amin Rahim, the No. 1 short corner in the Malaysian
hockey team.
It is vital to mention here that Razie had been named as highest goal-scorer in the Malaysian Junior Hockey League (MJHL) back in 2005. He had marked some eighteen goals representing Bukit Jalil School.
Striking attacker, Razie has had 82 international caps in his credit representing Malaysian National Hockey Team. The fabled star wanted to play his role through short corners in the title-claiming fight of the MHL.
He was quite happy to be the highest point scorer of the league. He opined, “I am happy that I have the top scorer’s award in the bag but I am disappointed that I failed to make a conversion in five penalty corners attempts in the two-leg semi-final against
YNS.”
The finals would be more crucial game of the tournament and he would have chances to increase his numbers of goals, he added saying that he was working to improve his penalty corner techniques.
Despite having several international players, the team of KL Hockey Club would contest the game against talented Sapura with great pressure.
Razie stated that the legendary strikers of KLHC would definitely deliver their disciplined game and score goals in the final game.
It is pertinent to mention here that the team of KLHC had defeated Sapura on two occasions in the current league respectively with 6-2 and 3-0. These results definitely would serve to KLHC and will edge them in the crucial match.
