Sachin Tendulkar has rated Mahindra Singh Dhoni the best Captain he has played under in his career. Tendulkar has led the Indian squad as well and has played under six Captains including Mohammad Azharuddin, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly
and Anil Kumble.
Dhoni became the second Indian cricket Captain to lift the World Cup,Trophy after Kapil Dev was the first Indian captain who led the side to victory in the World Cup in 1983. He led the team from the front especially in the final where he came in to bat
at the fall of the third wicket and the match looked evenly poised. India was chasing 274 runs scored by the Sri Lankans when the third wicket fell at the total of 114 runs in 21.4 overs. It was his bold decision to promote himself up in the order that finally
turned the game India’s way.
The match was won by six wickets and the trophy was dedicated to Tendulkar for his matchless services to Indian cricket.
As a captain, Dhoni has been nothing less than inspirational for his team especially in trying moments. He never hesitates to consult senior players, batsmen, bowlers or fielders which gives confidence to all players. Tendulkar thought the team was in the
top gear as they qualified for the quarter-finals.
“In the knockout stage we peaked at the right time; it was important. We knew either the batting was clicking, or bowling, or fielding but everything was not clicking together, but [apart from] in the last three games. Everybody contributed, right from
seniors to the juniors in the team. No one can guarantee results but efforts can be [guaranteed].”
Tendulkar is a legendary player of cricket who has under his belt most of the records in modern cricket. He is just one century away from becoming the only cricketer in history to score a century of centuries in International cricket.
