Five Transfers that could happen this summer – Portuguese Primeira Liga Special

Name: Fabio Coentrao

Current Club: Benfica

Potential Club/League (s): Real Madrid

Transfer Fee: €22m – €27m

Probability: 90%

Coentrao’s transfer saga to Real Madrid has been under the Media spotlight this summer. The player himself has been vocal in his desire to play for the Madrid based, and this has led to a row with Benfica Officials who are now looking to exercise legal action
against the player.

The Portuguese International has been one of the Eagles star performers this season and has also shined with the Selecao, which has more than justified his price tag. The wingback earlier had praise lavished on him by Madrid ace and National Team-mate Cristiano
Ronaldo, who would love see his friend tear up defences alongside him in La Liga.

Although the Lisbon outfit are keen to hold on to their highly rated defender, Madrid’s offer may prove to be too tempting, and the Portuguese International might yet be gracing the Bernabeu Pitch next season.

Name: Andre Villas Boas

Current Club: Porto (Manager)

Potential Club/League (s): Chelsea

Transfer Fee: €15m

Probability: 50%

Stamford Bridge’s trophy cabinet did not open this season and the axing of Carlo Ancelotti was cruel but not unexpected, and the message from Roman Abramovich is clear, there is no trophy less season for his club. Although the Team was riding high in the
table in November, acquired Fernando Torres for a British Record £50 million in January but they ended up empty handed in May, culminating a very below par season for the club which set standards for the league last year.

Not since the Golden era of Jose Mourinho has Chelsea consistently won Silverware, but the Special One is already on a mission to destroy Barcelona’s monopoly in Spain and is thus unavailable.

So Chelsea have their sight set on the next big thing coming out of Portugal, Andre Villas Boas, a manager with an almost identical track record of trophies at Porto.  But If the London club are to have their man taking charge next season, they will have
to spend some serious cash.

Name: Oscar Cardozo

Current Club: Benfica

Potential Club/League (s): Dynamo Kiev

Transfer Fee: Unstated

Probability: 25%

From being a talented youngster to one of the hottest properties in Europe, Oscar Cardozo has been performing brilliantly and consistently in of one of the continent’s most competitive leagues.

The Uruguayan has continually been linked with top clubs, but a move to another team has never materialized, a pity for the player whose talents could be utilized at the very highest stage. But this summer Dynamo Kiev, could change all that with a lucrative
offer for the Sky Blue International.

The Free kick specialist has been Benfica’s star performers and his sale will be a major blow for the clubs, who have lost the likes of Angel De Maria and David Luiz to bigger clubs in recent seasons.

Name: Nuno Gomes

Current Club: Benfica

Potential Club/League (s): Braga SC/MLS/UAE Pro League/Serie A

Transfer Fee: Bosman Transfer

Probability: 100%

After almost a decade of success with his beloved Benfica, the former Portuguese International will almost certainly be leaving the Estadio da Luz this season.

The Veteran has fallen down the pecking order at the Lisbon outfit, and was offered a Coaching role at the helm but the striker rejected it, as he feels that he can still be of value for another season.

With his experience as a top goal poacher, many clubs are willing to acquire the services of the 34-year-old but he is believed to prefer the Portuguese Liga in favor of offers from the MLS, UAE Pro League and Serie A.

Name: Radamel Falcao

Current Club: Porto

Potential Club/League (s): Arsenal/Tottenham

Transfer Fee: £25 million

Probability: 10%

Falcao made history when he bagged 17 goals in the Europa League this season, taking his total tally to a whopping 38 Goals in only just 42 appearances.

With those kind of statistics, it is not surprising that the big boys of Arsenal and Tottenham are ravenous to spend on the Coffee Growers International, but the officials at the Estadio da Dragao are not going let go of their star man easily and have placed
a £25 million price tag on his contract.

And with Falcao publicly stating that a transfer would be very difficult at best, this is the transfer which is going to make all the headlines if it does happen!
