Egyptian Table Tennis players back in action
The South African Junior and Cadet Open event is going to be held from the 1st of April. The event will continue till the 4th of April, 2011. The event will be staged at Cape Town, South Africa.
This championship is among the official sanctioned Global Junior Circuit events of International Table Tennis Federation ITTF. It will be the first Global Junior event of the year.
The Egyptian squad will be featuring the top 13 young table tennis player. The political situation in Egypt was not stable during the last two month due to which there was a break in international Table Tennis for the players in the country.
There will be six girls and seven boys on the squad. Mohamed Bassiouny of Egypt is selected to perform the duty of umpiring at the championship.
The Egyptian Table Tennis players were supposed to participate at the Swedish Junior Open at Orebro, which was a part of the Safir International tournament, but they were not allowed to travel due to the domestic instability within their country.
The Egyptian players will appear at the second junior tournament of the year. They are hoping to continue their fine record of excelling at junior level, as they did earlier at Iraq Junior Open Erbil, Iraq.
The Egyptian players completely dominated the ITTF Iraq Open. In the girls category it was Dina Meshref who won the Junior girls title. To add to this victory she also won the junior girls team and double event along with her compatriot Nadeen El-Dawlathy.
Nadeen El-Dawlathy ended up with the bronze medal in the singles category. Dina Meshref ended up at second seed in the upcoming event, despite of her absence in the last junior event. Nadeen is on the tenth seed, the number one seed is occupied by Eka So from
Japan.
In the Cadet girl single category the player who dominated was Reem Morad again from Egypt. She also won the title of the Cadet Doubles and Cadet Team event along with Aynor Morad.
In the boys side Mohamed Shouman and Omair Bedair dominated the medal Table completely. They had all sort of medals in their basket to return home with. They won the Junior boys team event, silver in the Junior boys doubles event. The junior boys double
event was won by Abdel-Rahman Mohamed but paired with a Swedish player Carl Akerlind.
All the top players who showed outstanding performance at the Iraq open, and won medals will be on duty at the upcoming ITTF, South African Junior and Cadet Open.
The event is of high importance for the Egyptian Table Tennis players as it would be their return at the international Table Tennis circuit. They could make their place among the senior players of the circuit in future.
