Hull FC is in line for the semi-final of Rugby League World Cup 2013

On November 29, Hull FC’s status of the host city was confirmed for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup (RWC), where the KC Stadium has been picked to stage the semi-final of the campaign.

Meanwhile, the group matches will be played at both the Craven Park of Hull KR and the KC Stadium. Also, the city will be the training camp for two of the competing teams.

It was already expected by the city that they will be selected to host the semi-final because they were not announced to host any of the quarter final clashes of RWC.

While talking to BBC reporters Hull FC’s media and marketing manager James Clark shared his thoughts about their recently gained and he said, “The fact we’ve been overlooked for a quarter-final means we’re very hopeful a semi-final could be ours. Wigan and
Warrington are big venues and the only other one to be overlooked is Huddersfield, a stadium that’s used for Challenge Cup semi-finals, so we think we’re up there. We’ll do all we can to persuade the powers that be that we are the city and the stadium to hold
a semi-final tie.”

Clark also explained the reason behind Hull’s selection for the base training camp and said the entire city of Hull is very passionate about the game, which is one of the contributing factors towards its pick for training base.

He further added that this is one city in entire England which is united in supporting their International team passionately. He also said that this is going to help Hull be part of the bigger picture.

The excitement of this selection was not limited to certain quarter but Hull City councillor Terry Geraghty, is also raying for the possibility.

Geragthy recalled and said that Hull KR was initially promised a quarter-final but for unknown reason the plan was changed after England played New Zealand in the Four Nations KC Stadium.

However, whatever changes the officials minds, Hull councilor added,”I’m very optimistic we’re in line for a semi-final.”

The mystery about the venues for the semi-finals, final and the opening ceremony will continue until early 2012.
