West Indies versus India-First Test- India Second innings- 1-7 overs report

India in a very strong position in the first Test match against west Indies after getting West Indies out for just 173 runs and took the first innings lead of 73 runs. So India started their innings with full of confidence because they had a considerable
lead over the hosts.

India started their second innings with their openers A Mukund and M Vijay. FH Edwards opened the bowling from West Indies. He bowled an excellent first over. He did not offer any width to the visitor’s batsmen. He bowled the first maiden over of the innings.

Ravi Rampaul came into the attack as a second attack bowler and provided the breakthrough to his team on the second ball of his over. He caught M Vijay plumb in front of the wickets and was judged LBW. Actually he was deceived by the uneven bounce of the
pitch.

The next batsman was the seasoned Rahul Dravid who came in as a one down batsman. Dravid took a single on the first ball that he faced. The next three balls were faced by Mukund and negotiated well.

Edwards came in to bowl the third over of the innings. Dravid took a single by pushing the through extra cover on the second ball of the over. Then Mukund also took a single on the fourth ball of the over and opened his account as well.

On the last ball of the over Dravid played a fantastic on-drive for a boundary. So at the end of third over India were at seven for the loss of one wicket.

Rampaul bowled the fourth over and maintained a tight line and length and bowled wicket to wicket, therefore, he conceded just one run in the over.

In the fifth over  Edwards conceded six runs, he was a bit expensive. Mukund scored most of the runs. He smashed a boundary and took a couple.

Ravi Rampaul bowled a poor second ball and was punished by Mukund who played a tremendous stroke for a boundary towards midd off where no body was there to stop it. So at the end of the over West Indies were at 23 for the loss of one wicket.
