South Australia versus Queensland – Sheffield Shield first-class match – Cricket News Update

South Australia are playing against Queensland at Adelaide Oval in a Sheffield Shield first-class match. Today was the second day of the four-day match. At the stumps Queensland were at 44 for naught with both the openers Ryan Broad (21) and Wade Townsend
(22) were at the crease.

Earlier South Australia (SA) after winning the toss opted to bat first. They began their innings with their openers Daniel Harris and Tom Thornton. They could not provide their team a smooth start as their first wicket fell on just 26 runs on the board.
Mathew Gale provided Queensland the first breakthrough as he trapped Henry plumb in front of the wickets. He could only manage to score 18 runs.

After losing an early wicket SA did not stutter and the Skipper Michael Klinger came into the middle as a one-down batsman with different ideas opposing to the Queensland’s bowlers. He occupied one end while on the other end SA lost their three wickets at
regular intervals.

So SA were at 68 for the loss of four wickets. Daniel Christian was the next man who came into the middle and played a blistering knock. He played a remarkable innings along with his Skipper Klinger. Similarly, the Skipper also played a very determined innings.
They both built a remarkable partnership of 168 runs which boosted the spirits in the SA camp. No doubt the duo provide their team a sturdy platform from which they could have managed an insurmountable first innings total but the upcoming batsmen could not
capitalized on the splendid partnership.

The both batsmen reached to their fifties in the process. However, Klinger after playing a fantastic innings of 93 runs went back into the hut. He was caught by Townsend off the bowling of Cameron Boyce. So SA lost their fifth wicket on 234.

On the other hand Christian kept on playing his natural game and reached another milestone as he smashed a fabulous century. Christian went back to the pavilion after smashing 108 runs.

In the lower middle order the wicketkeeper batsman Adam Crosthawaite also played valuable knock of 44 runs which pushed their team’s total further up and after scoring 349 runs in their first innings SA thought it enough and announced declaration of their
first innings for the loss of nine wickets.
