PCB to contact with SLC for clarification – Pakistan v Sri Lanka series in UAE
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is going to contact with the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to ask for the explanation regarding their statement, which they made to show their interest to host Pakistan’s home series in Sri Lanka instead
of playing in United Arab Emirate (UAE).
According to the official of the PCB, they finalised UAE for the upcoming bilateral series after consultation with Sri Lanka.
Furthermore, the official of the governing board of cricket in Pakistan said that there should not be any confusion because they have decided to host its homes series against Sri Lanka in UAE
Remember, the Lankan team is supposed to play a 3-Test match, a 5-One Day Internationals (ODI) fixture, and a Twenty20 International game against the Men in green in UAE in October-November.
It is likely that Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah will host the matches for forthcoming series, as dialogue between PCB and Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) is under process to finalise venues.
Earlier, The SLC expressed massive interest to organize Pakistan’s home series in Sri Lanka to promote the scope of cricket in the country.
According to the chairman of the SLC’s interim committee, Upali Dharmadasa they are not agreed to play series against Pakistan in UAE.
“We are going to talk to PCB again and try to convince them to host the series in Sri Lanka as it will give a chance for Sri Lankans to watch the matches” Dharmadasa had said.
“We haven’t been informed of the venues for series yet. In fact the other day, I read on the BBC website that the series was confirmed to be played at Abu Dhabi. I learnt about it only then. We are going to discuss this matter
at our Interim Committee meeting tomorrow and then only we can communicate with PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) and finalise the venues” he added.
After the statement of Dharmadasa, the PCB, who was already trying encourage international teams to visit Pakistan, seems worried over the current situation.
In the regard, Pakistan is looking forward to documents, which they received from UAE after finalising the deal, to SLC.
Meanwhile, the PCB requested all the members of the International Cricket Council to support them, and stated that they are already facing security issues to organise the game in the country.
