Marco Reus commits future to Borussia Monchengladbach – Bundesliga news
Talented Borussia Monchengladbach attacker, Marco Reus has made it clear that he is not looking to leave the club in the summer transfer window. The young striker who can also play as a winger has been touted for a move to a new club in June when the transfer
window opens. Early rumours suggested that if Borussia Monchengladbach are relegated to Bundesliga 2, Reus might leave the club. However, the youngster has quashed all rumours regarding his future at the club by committing his future at the club. Die Fohlen
will face Bundesliga 2 outfit VfL Bochum in a two-legged relegation play-off that would decide which of the two teams would be playing Bundesliga football in the 2011-2012 season. Reus has now said that the outcome of the play-offs will have no bearing on
his future at the club. While talking to German newspaper Bild, the youngster said, “I will stay in Gladbach in any case.”
Borussia Monchengladbach had recently tied the youngster to a new contract that would keep him at the club until the summer of 2015 but it was rumoured that newly-crowned Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich were looking to sign the striker
if Gladbach is relegated to Bundesliga 2. Reports also suggest that any of the aforementioned clubs will have to pay a steep price for acquiring the highly-rated attacker. According to Bild, Reus’ contract has a buy-out clause of 18 million euros which would
take effect next summer in 2012. The report further says that the amount would decrease to 15 million euros in 2013 and then to 12 million euros in 2014. However, there is no exit clause for this summer.
The 21-year-old has been in sparkling for Die Fohlen this season and has played an instrumental part in his side’s rise from the bottom of the table over the last few months of the season. So far, the youngster has scored 10 goals and has provided 8 assists
for Gladbach this season. His performances alerted German national team coach Joachim Loew who called up the youngster for Germany’s upcoming international friendlies.
