Kenny Dalglish: International break made preparation tricky for both Liverpool and United–EPL News
Influential Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has expressed his dissatisfaction over the late of a number of first team players from international duty and has reiterated that the unavailability of players have made preparations difficult for the upcoming tie
against Manchester United.
A number of Liverpool’s first team players including the likes of Luis Suarez, Stewart Downing and Charlie Adam have represented their respective nations in the recent international break. Most of the players returned to Melwood training ground on Wednesday
but they were unable to undergo any training session.
Liverpool will host their fierce rivals Manchester United for the first time after Sir Alex Ferguson’s men dethroned the Merseyside club in overall title race by claiming the Premier League title for the record 19th time last season.
Dalglish is hoping that his players will return without sustaining any injuries and has asserted that the international break have made preparations tricky for both Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Reds boss told the reporters, “We will have to see how fit or otherwise everyone is when they come back from international duty before we can properly prepare for the weekend.”
Moreover, Dalglish has heaped praise on Manchester United’s impressive start to the ongoing 2011/12 Barclays Premier League campaign. Sir Alex Ferguson’s men are currently leading the standings with four wins and a draw and also posses the best goal difference
in the league.
Dalglish has hailed depth in United squad and has praised Sir Alex Ferguson for efficiently coping up with the injuries in the first two months of the season.
“United have started the season very well. They’re sitting on top at the moment and that’s where everybody wants to be. They’ve had a lot of injuries too but coped well with them. Like all managers, Fergie is waiting to see how his players are after playing
for their countries,” Kenny Dalglish concluded.
Liverpool are currently placed fifth in the league standings and are six points behind Manchester United. The Reds can reduce the point difference by stretching their unbeaten record of three matches against Manchester United at Anfield.
