Jurgen Klinsmann still in the process of overhauling the US National Football Team

Jurgen Klinsmann runs a barren patch since his time at the helm of the US national football team. The head coach has drawn one and lost two games since taking the reins in August.

However, the former German national team coach is optimistic for the upcoming international friendlies with Honduras and Ecuador at Sun Life Stadium and Red Bull Arena, respectively.

The tactician admitted that the management and the fans want result and the Yanks are eager to see positive results but his utmost target is the overhauling of the squad.

The head coach asserted on the styling of his team’s mental and physical approach and it never comes overnight.

Klinsmann assured the wins but in the long run, first he wants to focus on the consistency of the squad in terms of performance and communication on the field.

“We’re always results-oriented,” Klinsmann said. “We’re competitors. We want to win. It’s important for us for our confidence, and for the fans as well.”

Speaking of his long-term plans, the head coach said: “In the long term, it’s a different picture where we want to get this team. We’re developing a style physically and mentally. That will be very important starting in June with World Cup qualifying games.”

Several players have seen positive calls under Klinsmann’s regime and one particular stalwart who is catching media attention is Oguchi Onyewu. The player recently signed a four-year contract with Portuguese club Sporting CP.

Sporting is Onyewu’s seventh European outfit and the stalwart has finally found his best form. The player featured in all four Primeira Liga matches and even scored a goal.

Oguchi, as he is more commonly known, was called in the friendly fixtures with Spain and Argentina but failed to sport any minutes in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. He was called by Bob Bradley in June after a break of two years since he picked up a knee injury.

Nick Rimando of Major League Soccer franchise Real Salt Lake was called in for the first time as a second choice goalkeeper under Klinsmann’s management. The player is expected to see time in the Ecuador match at Red Bull Arena.
