Jim Norris addresses Binghamton Rotary Club, shares the athletic development of Binghamton University

Change is perhaps the only permanent thing in this world, and the Binghamton University, New York, is no exception to it. During the past many months, the university has been witnessing a number of changes, the most prominent of which is the university’s
new Director Athletics, Pat Elite.

Jim Norris, the present incumbent, is due to retire by the end of this year. Meanwhile, he is all set to welcome his successor.

Norris is also bent on setting a welcoming environment for Pat so that he may not face any difficulty in getting along with the traditions of the university.

Perhaps that is the reason he usually takes the opportunity at all forums to hint towards his retirements and, at the same time, asks the people to cooperate with Pat Elite, the next incumbent.

In a similar move, while addressing the Bingham Rotary Club, Norris informed the members regarding the changes that had taken place in the university’s athletics department during the last two years.

The Director Athletics was overjoyed to share the fact that his students had performed tremendously well in all the disciplines of athletics and that too without compromising on their academic performance.

To him, this all-rounder approach was the most encouraging result of the steps they had been taking during the past years.

Besides discussing and praising the athletes’ performance, the Director also expressed delight over the revamping of the Events Centre in the near future.

To him, these were the crucial factors that assured him that the university’s athletics department was going to do really well and there were no chances for it to falter again.

Expressing his contentment over the state of the department, and sharing about the person who will be replacing him soon, Norris said, “When I took over we were in a bit of a state of chaos, but I think that is all behind us, it’s all in the rear view mirror
now, and I’m excited about the state of the department that I’m going to be handing over to Pat Elliot”.

While Norris will be retiring from his post in December, Elliot is expected to take charge in the mid of the ongoing month, on November 14.
