Football Transfer News: Newcastle United planning to sign Brazilian forward Ewerthon

Latest news from North East of England has confirmed Newcastle United’s pursuit of signing in the Brazilian, Ewerthon.

Sources have revealed the Brazilian international is currently a free-agent and there are a couple of European clubs that are interested in signing him as an asset. Ewerthon can be used as a utility player having the ability to play both as a winger and
a forward.

The 29-year-old has spent a lot of time on loan while his last contract was with Palmeiras in 2010. He gave an average performance with them hence was not presented with a contract renewal.

Right now the player is looking at a couple of clubs, hoping to ink a contract with any of them but now that he has ignited a spark he will be looking forward to the best offer.

Ewerthon started his career from Corinthians in 1998 after emerging from their youth academy. He rose to fame while appearing for German club Borussia Dortmund and Spanish outfit Zaragoza, recoding an impressive goal scoring ratio.

With the Bundesliga club he netted the ball 47 times in 119 matches. On the other hand for the La Liga club he scored 48 goals in 111 caps.

In a press statement the agent of Ewerthon, Barry McIntosh informed media the player and a club to be in contact with a full negotiation process on the table. McIntosh further stated the likeliness of the deal being signed in.

While talking to media McIntosh uttered, “A number of clubs like Ewerthon, he is a free agent and is looking to seal his next move. It is no secret that a number of Premier League clubs are keen on him.”

He concluded by stating, “I am not going to go into details about who we are talking with, but if you’re asking me about whether he would move to Newcastle? Then yes, obviously they are a calibre of club he would very much consider playing for.”
