CSKA Moscow optimistic despite UEFA Champions League defeat against Lille, roars Roman Babaev

CSKA Moscow general director, Roman Babaev, has revealed that the Koni will continue their UEFA Champions League pursuit despite their recent 2-0 defeat against Lille at Luzhniki stadium.

The general director admitted that the Russian outfit need to win the upcoming match against the Nerazzurri if they are to progress to the later rounds of the Champions League.

The Russian national revealed that CSKA are lacking confidence without their key players and gave the example of Keisuke Honda, Zoran Tosic and Seydou Doumbia. He blamed the management for players repeated injuries and urged the
owners to carefully monitor the situation.

“I am not happy with the players, management and the club’s physicians. Our players have been a victim of continuous injuries throughout the season.  It’s time for the shareholders to make certain conclusions and take appropriate
action.” Babaev was quoted as saying.

Reports in Russia suggest that CSKA striker, Vagner Love is set to leave the Russian outfit. Babaev revealed that the club have not received any offers for the Brazilian national but admitted that they will certainly entertain
any offer for the promising striker meeting their valuation.

CSKA will play a league tie against Anzhi Makhachkala before taking on Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Babaev revealed that he is satisfied with the set of fixtures handed by the Russian Football Union and admitted that he is worried about the Russian climatic conditions during the matches.

Babaev went on to admit that the Koni have given a formal proposal to the authorities for a new stadium and revealed that it will take another two months for its approval.

“We have a fundamental right from the city authorities to build a stadium. Unfortunately, due to rearrangements in the Moscow government, part of the documentation had to be changed but now we have a new endorsement.” Babaev explained.

Speaking on the possibility of sharing ground with Spartak Moscow, the Russian national urged the Russian Football Union to think twice before making any decision, highlighting ticketing and security concerns at Luzhniki stadium.
